Why Social Enterprise : We want to do intentional work in workplace that enables us to contribute back to the society, purposefully.
We worked with the market leading and forward-looking institutions of harnessing the softer side of organizational health to sustain their performance. It has been humbling working with the brightest and smartest leadership teams on the levers of culture & behaviour that will make their organization even better. We accept hat all organisations differ and will continue to listen first.
Who Social Enterprise: The new work will focus to both Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and medical/ funeral need of the Bottom 40% B40) of rural Sabah Sarawak natives.
The first batch of Sarawak and Sabahan youths have graduated from a Technical and Vocational Education and Training and are now are in conversation about heir future vocation. They are mindful of their family’s need and commitment to pay back loans. Rural poor from villages in northern Sarawak came to the urban centre to seek medical help & continue to feel alienated. We have helped to fund some of the urgent medical cases and in certain cases, the expenses of funeral. These activities are funded from 10% of any collected revenue and not by asking for donations. NGO is not a long term solution.
Our experiment with street feeding (Mari Makan) , education (Let IT Fly) & gifting (Miri Shoebox) have shaped our realities. We still believe that social enterprise is the better way to sustain a service of care especially to the natives.
Valerie and Joseph continue to be authentic and honest as partners in this enterprise. We continue to do business based on our value, our belief to do a bit more of care. Where it matters, we worked for free with organisations that will create the right impact the poor and marginalized. We honour the rule of law in the land that we worked & be constructive in our work of nation building.
Leading with integrity. The lever of leadership is no longer solely about individual leaders making a difference. A few organisations have validated that working on both the individual’s leadership muscle and team effectiveness delivers better result to the organization and individuals. The solutions to business problems are no longer just by formation of teams but thinking through which levers are more effective and the construct of the team’s design and selection.
We work virtually to keep our cost manageable. Social media is where we engage most. We only travel when necessary and to keep our carbon footprint & cost to client low. We are looking more on reducing and reuse to complement our recycling. We will be bolder in our commitment in our next iteration of vision.
